#3 of 23 Things

I do not know why but, I had a tough time with this one. If I would have just gone ahead and read all the information for Thing #3, then did it, I would have gotten this one done alot faster. I worked on this for 2 to 3 days. But once I read everything and did as follows, it was easy to do. I set up accounts on Google Reader http://www.google.com/reader/view/#overview-page and on Bloglines http://www.bloglines.com/ and also set up an email on Google. I also setup an IGoogle page and for my personnel favorites, etc. I did alot of roaming around in all that Google has to offer, and what all you can do. In IGoogle I have all the things I like to look at right on one page. Clock, calendar, current weather, current news, and also my Google Reader is on the page, so I can go right to it. Google Reader I added 2 Blogs and Google news site and 4 other sites that I thought I might be interested in. I can change it whenever I want. It is easy to add and delete sites on your Reader. On Bloglines I added 3 Blogs and Blognews. And this is also very easy to add and delete sites or blogs. Just follow the directions on each site. My preference would be Google, I seem to understand and move around better/faster then the Blogline.
This is a fast and easy way to find everything you are interested in or want to read and get caught up on in one spot when you put all your website/blogs on one page and pick the one you want to read. So I am finally done with #3 of 23 Things...

#2 of 23 Things

Today I watched the video by Stephen Abrams and read the Blog post by John Blyberg and also, read the "The Ongoing Web Revolution" on Web 2.0. The Web truly has changed over the years and the on going knowledge out there to be found and things to be tried, like the 23 Things.
John spoke of how he enjoys IM (Instant Messaging), I do this all the time and I love it. I can talk to my daughter whenever we are both on-line, in real time. She is away at college and it is so nice to have a conversation/typing back and forth with no long distance charges or text charges on cell phones. I have also been on web sites where you can get IM help with placing an order or need information about something. This would be a great asset for the Reference Dept. in a Library. I do believe some already have this. So, going on now with the 23 Things, this should be fun and yet challenging. Number 2 done.

Getting started in 23 Things

It was fairly easy to get started. I just followed along on the http://23thingsonastick.blogspot.com/ website. I first set up my blog on https://www.blogger.com/start just following the instructions. Which all went pretty well. I then set up my Avatar from http://avatars.yahoo.com/ which was really fun, going through and picking out what you want your picture to look like and you can change whenever you like. I did have a tough time trying to get it to my blog page, but after searching around the site, I found you have to export it to the your blog site. I had also downloaded it to my computer desktop, not knowing for sure how I was going to get it to the blog page. Also, had to pick out my template (background) on the blog page. Then I did my first blog (seen above) and took a while to figure out, when I am done you have to click Publish Post (Orange button) to get it to your blog page. I then had to go back to the 23 Things on Stick site and register my blog site. It was fairly easy and fun. So, I think I am now done with 1 Thing of 23 Things.

23 Things on a Stick

Today I started the 23 Things on a Stick. I work in the Northern Lights Library Network office, I am the manager. It was fairly easy to get started, so far. I had fun designing my Avatar. I have a chocolate lab dog and so that is why he is on the picture and here in Minnesota it is very cold and snowy and so as of today I liked the winter scene. I really enjoy working on the computer everyday and so I think this 23 Things on Stick should be very knowledgeable and entertaining.
